How I got here…
In 2011, I received a bachelor's degree in Mass Communication from Middle Tennessee State University. I just knew I would become a world-renowned journalist. I worked in customer service for about three and a half years after graduation before my chance came. Unfortunately, that chance ended as soon as it began. 'What now?' I thought.
What I did think about was how I never forgot that feeling I had every time my family got together. I grew up in a close-knit family in Nashville, Tennessee. Both my grandmothers often hosted parties at their homes as far as I could remember. Growing up, celebrations were the essence of my family life. We celebrated EVERYTHING! From Fish Fry Fridays to Soul Food Sundays, I was always in the middle of planning all the details for the Glaze family gatherings alongside my maternal grandmother. That feeling of safety and love when my family would come to my grandparents' house filled me with so much excitement. We would display food on crystal platters from the china cabinet even for the most 'insignificant' events.
After losing my parents and both siblings by age 34, I realized how important our 'insignificant' family gatherings were as a child. I grew a new appreciation for my grandmother, instilling the importance of gathering and celebrating life itself together with those we love. Those insignificant gatherings are now my fondest memories.
In the wake of my pain, I asked myself, 'What makes you happy?' My "aha" moment was then born. I realized how fulfilling it had been throughout my life to create, design, and plan things. I was the brain behind crafting all the little components that make an event all it's own. Over the years, my passion for designing events grew stronger, and the events became more detailed. It was almost as if the smaller the detail, the more thrilled I would be. I decided to turn my passion into a career and extend my services beyond just my family gatherings.
From 2012 to now, I’ve been entrusted with planning some significantly special occasions. From planning baby showers, engagements, birthdays to housewarming parties, I've had my share of fun creating unique themes, elegant centerpieces, and harmonious tablescapes.
